Mayor Chris Vieira was elected to the Ceres City Council on November 8, 2011, his term expires in December of 2020 and he has announced that he won’t run. During his tenure in the Ceres City Council he has served on the Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Successor Agency for the Former Ceres Redevelopment Agency. He has also served on the following regional alliances: Cities-County Committee; East Stanislaus Integrated Regional Water Management Program; Executive Committee - Central Valley Division League of California Cities; Integrated Regional Water Supply Project; San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Board; Successor Agency for the Former Stanislaus Ceres Redevelopment Commission; Surface Water JPA and the West Turlock Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability JPA.
He attended California State University, San Luis Obispo, graduating with a BSME Degree. He is employed by: VH Design Group, Inc. Mayor Chris Vierra is married, has 2 children and has lived in Ceres for 45 years.
At a recent event about his city he said: “Ceres, through leadership, common sense, and care, has managed its resources wisely and has served its citizens. I like to imagine a Ceres that continues to have its neighborly hometown feel, while becoming more beautiful, more vibrant - more prosperous - and the type of place people move to in order to have a great quality of life.”
