Meet Your Portuguese-American Elected Officials in California: Brian Pacheco
Supervisor Brian Pacheco was designated as Chairman of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors on January 9, 2017.
Brian Pacheco is a fourth-generation family farmer and dairyman in Fresno County with roots in the Azores islands. Brian graduated from Kerman High School and attended the University of California, Davis. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics.
Supervisor Pacheco is a strong advocate of public education and excellence in our local schools. He was elected and served 12 years on the Kerman Unified School Board of Trustees. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Community Medical Center, the Fresno Madera Area Agency on Aging, and the Human Resources Advisory Board. Supervisor Pacheco is the Past President of the Fresno County Farm Bureau and is a member of various community organizations including Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Fresno, Biola and Kerman Chambers of Commerce and the Nisei Farmers League.
Supervisor Pacheco and his wife Alena have three children. The Pacheco family is involved in 4H and FFA and attends the Big Fresno Fair each year to show their animals; Brian has been the 4H Dairy Project Leader for many years and Alena has served as the Kerman 4H Community Club Leader.
