California Portuguese-American Coalition in Sacramento

A meeting with the Portuguese-American state assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry lead the way to further talks about the establishment of a Friends of the Azores Caucus as part of efforts to revitalize the sister state relationship, established in 2002 between California and the Azores. This caucus would bring more awareness of the Portuguese-American presence in the state, and foster more opportunities between California and the Azores, a region where most who are of Portuguese ancestry can trace their roots.

Several members of the board of the California Portuguese-American Coalition (CPAC) along with friends of the coalition who have helped CPAC along the way, had a lunch with the Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and the Director of Azorean Communities, Paulo Teves, visiting California in order to deliver the Portuguese Beyond Borders Institute (PBBI) anniversary lecture at California State University Fresno and establish contacts with the Azorean communities throughout the state.

The California Portuguese-American Coalition is a non-profit organization funded by FLAD (Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento) in order to unite elected officials and civic leaders in order to facilitate stronger collaboration in the advancement of the interests of the Portuguese-American community in California.
